Genmaicha (quite literally, brown rice and tea) refers to the adding of rice to a green tea base. Here we have a superb example, our finest Japanese Sencha green tea paired with roasted and popped rice, creating a tea of distinct pleasure.

Genmaicha is often referred to as 'popcorn tea' as a few grains of the rice pop during the roasting process and resemble popcorn. This tea was first introduced in Japan as 'people's tea' as the rice served as a filler and reduced the overall price of the tea, making it more available to poorer members of society. Today this beverage is saught after and enjoyed by tea lovers across the globe.
